Day 15 ~ Virtual Laundry Day…helping families in South Africa

Do you dread doing laundry? I don’t really mind the washing and drying, but getting everything back to where it goes is just not fun for me or for my family.

But…What if this was your landry room?

After reading about this community and how they do their laundry, I have absolutely no reason to complain.

Today, Lisa-Jo has invited us to do virtual laundry together. Coming together to help make laundry days easier and bringing home water simpler for this community in South Africa. Click here  to learn more about this project and how you can help. The amazing thing is that it is already halfway funded. Together, we could help complete this project today!

Day 11 ~ Ordinary {Five Minute Friday}

Linking up with Lisa-Jo again today for Five Minute Friday. I time to write about one word for five minutes. Our word for today is…

ORDINARY

When I hear the word ordinary I think of plain, average, common. I tend to think of myself as just ordinary most of the time. Do you do the same thing?

Well it is time for you and I to remember and focus on how God sees us. We are EXTRAordinary!

Just think…he created each one of us unique and has a special plan just for us. Doesn’t that make you feel special?

He gave us gifts that we are to use for His glory. He loved us so much that He sent His only son to die for us. How can we be just ordinary? We are Sisters. We are part of God’s family. We need to remember this each and every day.

We can also take just ordinary days and make them extraordinary for us and for others through random acts of kindness or just a smile.

So as we learn to live with purpose this month, let’s remember who we are and whose we are and make it a goal to do one thing each day to brighten someone else’s day.

Extraordinary Blessings to You!
Melissa

SHE {Five Minute Friday}

It’s Five Minute Friday! I am linking up again with our awesome host, Lisa-Jo. She gives us one word each week and asks us just to write for five minutes. Our word for this week…

SHE

She loved me with all of her heart.

She taught me how to crochet and sew.

She always had beautiful flowers growing.

She was an amazing cook…her creamed corn was my favorite.

She made quilts with my great-grandmothers and great-aunts.

She knew all of our birthdays.

She always had a gift for us at Christmas.

She sewed her own clothes and always looked beautiful.

She was a good listener.

She loved Jesus and her family.

She would help anyone in need.

She loved and respected him all of her days.

She is so missed by me.

I strive to be the kind of wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and one day grandmother that she was.

My grandmother was such an amazing lady! I learned so much from her and miss her every day. I know she is in Heaven with my Papa and watching over us each day.untitled

Broken {Five Minute Friday}

It’s Five Minute Friday! I am linking up again with our awesome host, Lisa-Jo. She gives us one word each week and asks us just to write for five minutes. Our word for this week…

BROKEN

The perfect word for me this week. I felt broken yesterday. I found out that I didn’t get the job I had interviewed for…actually had two interviews for.

A local private school contacted me about a technology position for this coming school year. It sounded like a good fit for me and I thought it would be a great school for my kids. I really thought I would be offered the job after the second interview. You can imagine how it felt when they contacted me yesterday and said that even though I was very qualified they had chosen another candidate. I felt like I had been punched in the stomach.

I have to admit that I did cry a little bit yesterday and had myself a pity party, but today is another day. God has blessed me with a good job. It doesn’t pay as well as I would like but you know what…my God always provides.

I didn’t realize until last night that this was the first time in 18 years that I had not been offered a job that I interviewed for. Wow! That made me stop and really think.

There is a reason I didn’t get that job…He must have better plans for me. So today I don’t feel broken…I feel blessed!

Belong {Five Minute Friday}

It’s Five Minute Friday! I am linking up again with our awesome host, Lisa-Jo. She gives us one word each week and asks us just to write for five minutes. Our word for this week…

BELONG...

im-calm-i-belong-to-jesus

I have spent most of my life trying to belong. Looking for others to accept me. The problem with that is that I was always trying to be someone else…not who God made me to be. It is a little scary knowing that I got to my 30’s not really knowing who I was.

It took some challenges in this life for me to figure out who I am and whose I am. I don’t know why I ever tried so hard to be in groups or date boys that were so different than me. I guess I just wanted to be accepted and liked no matter what.

The greatest thing now is that I belong (and always have) to a Father that loves me unconditionally. He designed me perfectly and gave me certain gifts and has a plan just for me. It is an incredible feeling each morning knowing that I belong to Him. God sent His only son to die for Me. There is no greater gift and for that I give my life to Him.

How about you? Have you struggled to belong? He is there for you too!

Blessings to You,
Melissa
