A Letter to my Daughter…on your 7th birthday

It’s here again…your birthday, and I can still remember holding you for the first time. Your sweet, round face and that dark hair. So little, so beautiful, so perfect.

We knew you would be the last. Our family was complete. God knew I needed a little girl and I am so thankful He blessed me with you!

I have spent the past 7 years trying to teach you the basics…manners, respect, compassion, love – especially love for our Heavenly Father. I can’t even tell you how happy I was when you asked Jesus into your heart this past year. What joy to know that you will spend eternity in Heaven with me!

Now it is time to start teaching you other things that will get you through your life. I wish I could protect you from the hard things that will come, but I can’t. I do know that God will always be watching over you and He will always be there to help you. He will use the tough times to make you strong.

Here are some things I want you to remember…

Spend time with God each and every day. (1 Peter 5:6-7, Mark 12:30)
Thank Him for all the blessings in your life. (Psalm 118:29, Colossians 3:17)
Turn to Him and His Word when things get tough. (Philippians 4:6-7)
Be a light in this dark world. (Ephesians 5:8)
Be who God created you to be. (Psalm 139:13-18, Colossians 3:23)
Have complete faith in God. (Hebrews 11:1)
Be confident. (Hebrews 10:35-36, Philippians 4:13)
Love and forgive others, even when it is hard. (Ephesians 4:32, John 13:35)
Follow God’s plan for your life. (Psalm 25:4-5)

I look forward to watching you learn and grow. I can’t wait to see what God has planned for you.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength. Ephesians 1:17-19

I will always be here for you my precious girl. Here to listen to you, here to hug you, here to love you unconditionally. I am so very blessed to be your Mommy!

I Love You to the Moon and Back Katie Bug!
